A REGULAR MEE= TING of the 2010-11 Board of Directors met at St. Mary’s-In-The-Valley Episcopal Church, Corner of San Vicente Rd. and 12^th St., Ramona= , CA 92065. The meeting was called to or= der at 5:58 p.m. by President Chris Smith

ORDER OF BUSINESS

CHANGES/ADDITIONS TO AGENDA: Bob Hailey requested that “Buying a Wireless Mike for Outside Events” be added under New Business. Jim Cooper requeste= d that “Question on Standing Rule” be added under New Business.

VOTE TO APPROVE AGENDA ITEMS:

Motion made by Bob Hailey, seconded by Jim Cooper, and carried without dissention = that the Agenda be approved as amended.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

Motion made by Ric= hard Wade, seconded by Mary Halliday, and carried with Bob Hailey abstaining, th= at the minutes of a regular board meeting held on 06/01/11 be accepted as pres= ented. (Note: Bob abstained as he was not presen= t at the board meeting for which the minutes were presented.)

SECRETARY’S CORRESPONDENCE & REPORT: None

TREASURER’S REPORT: Reviewed and filed as a permanent par= t of these minutes.

Treasurer Richard Wade no= ted that proceeds from the recent “Bow-Wow-Pow-Wow” (BWPW), made it poss= ible to somewhat reduce shortfalls in our foundation budget. Richard completed and submitted the required report for a raffle held at the BWPW, to the State of California. He said that our net proceed from = the event is $5,277, and that we only have one outstanding $183.00 expense for = advertising. He noted that in response to a challenge to members by Pete Casalegno, a total $1,700 has been donated the foundation account by individual club members.

Richard met with Jessica = Hickman (2011-2012 Treasurer) and Jim Cooper to go over possible areas where we mig= ht “tighten up” and thereby be able to “rebalance” our budget. Their meeting resulte= d in recommendations that the following items be cut, reduced, or fully funded.<= /p>

     1.     Ramona Children&#= 8217;s Charity (cut total $500)

2.     Human and Spiritu= al Values (cut total $350)

3.     Discretionary You= th Fund (cut by ½ - $750)

4.     Ramona Junior Fair ($250) (Richard to discuss th= is item with Dottie Cronin whether this item should be be fully funded, cut or reduced.)

Motion made by Bob Hailey, seconded by Darrell Beck, and carried without dissention, that Treasurer Richard Wade be authorized to ch= ange the above listed budget items as appropriate to “rebalance” the 2010-2011 Foundation Budget. = (Note: Since these minutes were recorded, Richard forwarded an update regar= ding shortfalls in revenues in the foundation budget. At 11:48 am on July 8, 2011 Richard emailed a memo to all board members regarding the update and requested that those with any concerns about the reductions let him know ASAP.   A copy of the email and a sum= mary is attached to these original minutes.)

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: (Report to Kiwanis Internationa= l by Secretary Required)

Community Service: Chairman Kelley Bayne didn’t = submit a report.

Human & Spiritual Values:<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> Chairman Michael Harrison didn’t submit a report.

Inter-club: Chairman Bob Hailey reported that = we completed an interclub with the Kiwanis Club of Greater Encinitas (host clu= b at the June Division Counsel Meeting on June 4^th). Attendees were Kelley Bayne, Jef= f Funk, Bob Hailey, and Tom Taylor

Young Children Priority One: Chairman Mary Halliday reported tha= t she delivered 31 children’s books to Head Start and sent 100 special bags= to Division 100 for Trauma Dolls and some Kiwanis tags to be sewn into them.


Youth Services: Chairman Walter Ainslie reported th= at no projects were completed in June.

OTHER COMMITTEES:

Membership & Growth:   Chairman Pat Bell was not in attendance. 2011-2012 Members= hip Chairman, Paul Tarr, said he plans to be very actively engaged in membership matters during the coming year. He intends to contact as many prior members as possible regarding whether they might be interested in “re-joining”.   He also plans to hold a R= 20;Special Guest Day.”

Publicity: Chairman Tom Taylor briefed us, and provided copies to the secretary, on the numerous club activities which appeared in local publications during June. Tom noted our “Bow-Wow-Pow-Wow” was our major item publicized during June.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

James Dukes= Elementary School Art Program: Bob Hailey reported that he has ma= de no additional contact regarding our possibly participating in this program.

Fourth of July Fireworks: Bob Hailey will present our $5= 00.00 donation to the Rotary Club at their next meeting.

Kiwanis Road Sign: Richard Wade no= ted no action taken since June board meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

Scholarship Concerns: Jose Alvarado advised the board th= at one of our 2010 scholarship selectees did not claim the second semester portion ($1,000) of her scholarship. = He asked how he should proceed regarding the matter. Board members agreed that Jose shou= ld not pursue the matter any further as the applicant has not made any contact with him. It was further agreed, t= hat should she request it at a later date, it probably should not be funded

Standing Rule 10 on new member bad= ges: (“New members will receive t= heir permanent Gold Kiwanis name badge after they have attended a Division Counc= il Meeting (DCM), attended a club board meeting, and participated in a club event/function.”) Jim C= ooper expressed his concern that due to busy schedules, etc., many members are un= able to ever attend a DCM. Motion = made by Jeff Funk, seconded by Mary Halliday, and carried without dissention, that the Club President, on a cas= e-by-case basis, be authorized to waive the DCM requirement.
