A REGULAR MEETING of the 2011-2012 Board of Directors met at St. Mary’s-In-The-Valley Episcopal Church, Corner of San Vicente Rd. and = 12^th St., Ramona, CA 92065. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Bob Hailey

ORDER OF BUSINESS=

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS: =

Motion made by Mar Halliday, seconded by Tom Taylor, abstained= by Jim Cooper and Carol Bazinet and carried that t= he minutes of a regular board meeting held on 10/05/11 be accepted as presente= d.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Need to update the m= ember list for the division 37 directory. Kevin Bell to take action. Bob Hailey presented the request for the annual club gift to Kiwanis International. Jessica Hickman to take action.<= /span> Bob Hailey also noted that the SI 100 needs to be filled out, cost is $20.0= 0.=

SECRETARY’S CORRESPONDENCE & REPORT: Secretary Kevin Bell= noted that Pete Horton, Executive Director of Cal-Nev= -Ha will retire September 30, 2012. Also presented, was the following correspondence received throughout the month of October:<= /p>
·       Ronald McDonald House Fundraiser – Kevin Bell to send info to Mary Halliday for the next issue of the KwanCom. Board recommended bringing up the details at the next regular Kiwanis meeti= ng

·       Rose Float Decoration – Skipping for 2011
·       Photocharity Walk – Skipping for 2011

·       San Pasqual Academy Scholarship – Ramona Kiwanis is already engaged

SECRETARY’S CORRESPONDENCE & REPORT (Continued):

·       Project MNT – Bob Hailey will follow up with Donna Hill for m= ore information. Jim Cooper questioned the baby bottle that was passed around at the regular Kiwanis meetings to collect donations. Richard Wade will follow= up on the total amount noted

TREASURER’S REPORT: Reviewed and filed a= s a permanent part to these minutes.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: (Report to Kiwanis International by Secretary Required)

Community Service: Report attached. Chai= rman Walter Anslie also reported that food has been donated by Kiwanians throughout the month of Oc= tober to the RFCC. 150 lbs of food, 8 people @ 2 hours.<= /span>

Human & Spiritual Values: Chairman Ellen Duel di= d not submit a report

Inter-club: Chairman Kelley Bayne= did not submit a report. President Bob Hailey stated the desire to complete a r= ound robin, and currently our club only needs 3 members for an inter-club.<= /o:p>

Service Leadership Program= : President Bob Hailey stated he has been working with Carol Tennabaum= to start a K-Kids program in Ramona.

Young Children Priority One: Chairman Mary Halliday reported that 24 pediatric trauma dolls were made, 1 person @ 24 hours. Als= o, 20 books were collected and delivered for the Head Start Literacy Program, 1 person @ $11.00.

Jim cooper questioned if the Gold Series children’s books were needed as well. Mary Halliday confirmed yes they are. Jim Cooper confirmed he had plenty for donation and will work with Mar= y to get them donated.

Youth Services: Chairman Mary Hallida= y that the Foundation presented the Neotech Robotics P= rogram at the Ramona High School a check for $1,000, 1 person. Also, toys were pic= ked up for the club to distribute to needy children in our community. Toys are originally given to Joe and Jodi Heard, members of the Escondido Kiwanis Cl= ub, for distribution to other Kiwanis clubs. The toys will be distributed to the RFCC, Toys for Troops Kids, St. Mary’s in the Valley Episcopal Church, Ramona Head Start, and others. Pick up and Inventory took 1 person @ 4 hour= s.

OTHER COMMITTEES:

Public Relations: Chairman Tom Taylor b= riefed us and provided copies to the secretary on the numerous club activities whi= ch appeared in local publications during October.

Membership & Growth= : Chairman Paul Tarr reported 1 new member induction of Carlos Murcia during the October 8^th regular Kiwanis meeting. No new member applications and no resignations. As for social activities, member Jose Alvarado hosted ping pong games for a few members and provided carne asada and beverages while discussing the benefits of = social events for the club.

<= u>KwanCom: <= /b>Chairman M= ary Halliday reported the next issue will be coming out shortly.

Focus Group= : Chairman = Jim Cooper reported that he met with Bob Hailey and Jeff Funk previously to dis= cuss the idea of creating a packet containing three Kiwanis document; the By0Lwa= s, Standing Rules, and Mission Statement. The idea is to provide this to the c= lub members so everyone is on the same page. Jim Cooper stated his plans to for= m a committee to review the documents and submit suggestions for changes and improvements to the 3 documents.

Student of the Month: Chairman Mary Halliday reported that Emily Chanley from the Ramona Community School’s Montessori Academy<= /st1:PlaceType> was honored, 1 person @ $21.00 @ 1 hour.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

<= st1:address w:st=3D"on">Kiwanis Road Sign: Richard Wade has the sign and necessary materials. He will follow up for permission to post the sign. Bob Hailey wi= ll assist Richard in contacting the right individual.

Music Fest Bank Accounts: Bob Hailey stated so= me technicalities in creating the accounts as planned. He stated that he plans= to give it another shot based on suggestions from the Board members.

Kiwanis Trailer: Jim Cooper stated th= at the “All About Fun” local repair company donated some of the parts for repair and suggested providing them with a th= ank you letter from the club. He stated they did great work on the trailer and plans to bring them in as a guest speaker at a regular Kiwanis meeting. As = of now, the trailer work needed has been completed.

NEW BUSINESS:

Club Survey: Bob Hailey intends on initiating another club survey. This will be done via= the internet, Bob will get the link out to the club members.

Community Inventory: Bob Hailey presented the idea of doing a community inventory to learn the n= eeds of our community. Jim Cooper stated the option of putting this in the Ramona Sentinel for the public to respond. Tom Taylor suggested directing them to = our website to submit their responses. Bob Hailey will take action to look up t= he form and get it to Tom Taylor.

Fundraiser Email: Tom Taylor had received an email regarding a fundraiser and was concerned a= bout it being ‘spam’. The board confirmed no one else received the e= mail and the suggestion was to not open it and delete it from his inbox.

NEW BUSINESS (Continued):

Joker Game: Richard Wade suggest= ed bringing the joker game back to the Saturday meetings. Secretary Kevin Bell will get this on the agenda for this Saturday’s regular Kiwanis meeti= ng.

Poker Game Supplies: Jim Cooper requested= that the poker supplies be obtained from passed member Rick Terrazas so the club can continue the games. Jim Cooper offered to house the supplies and take over the coordination. Bob Hailey will retrieve the supplies from Rick.

Treasurers Audit: Jim Cooper reminded = the board about the treasures audit needing to happen. Richard Wade will take action to follow up with Ellen Duel.
