Ramona Kiwanis Supports AVID
At the November 12 club meeting a check for $500.00 was presented to Edie Bacorn to support the AVID program. In 1988, the Ramona AVID program was created as an answer to the problem of enrolling underserved students in postsecondary education. Beginning with one class, the program now serves over 300 Ramona students. Ramona AVID students graduate from high school and matriculate to college at over a 90 per cent rate, a figure almost one-third higher than state and national averages.
